Moira began her learning adventure with an open mind and a clear goal: to diversify her skills and pursue her passions. She began with the Anatomy and Physiology course, intrigued by the intricacies of the human body, and soon found herself exploring the creative world of Cake Baking and Decoration. 

But Moira didn't stop there. Her curiosity led her to delve into Advanced Nutrition for Weight Loss, Reflexology, CBT, and Sports Massage courses. With a keen appetite for learning, she also ventured into Drawing for Beginners, among many others she eagerly added to her list.

What stands out in Moira's educational journey is her approach to learning. "I like the fact I can work at my pace, with no pressure to finish at any certain date," Moira shares. “I can feel relaxed about learning and this is extremely important to me as stress in learning is not something I need now after a life of stressful courses for my nursing life.”

“I have enjoyed the confidence the courses have given me to persue varies hobbies, like the baking one, I have always baked cakes since I was a school girl but now feel I can take on more elaborate cake decoration and have orders for my cakes.” Moira shares. “I’m still learning and try to add more skills with each cake. I’m 66 and want to persue many things within my retirement and feel this way of learning will allow this to happen.”

Reflecting on her educational journey, Moira emphasises the importance of choosing courses that align with your goals, whether for career advancement or personal enrichment. "These courses empower me to take on many challenges," she asserts, underlining the confidence boost and professional and personal growth she has experienced.

“Throughout my nursing career I have seen many people who after retirement do nothing and subsequently suffer ill physical and mental health,” she recalls. “That’s not where I wish to be! I feel good and positive once I start a course and love receiving the positive feedback from the course tutors. This helps me both professionally and personally as they increase my confidence.”
